The news that Instagram no longer will be a photo sharing app has shaken our world. The algorithm will focus more on video. Many are dissatisfied with this news, mostly because creating video content is hard. But there is a way to make that easier and that is to use the content you already have and make animated Instagram Reels in Canva.
Instagram is Changing
Instagram has just confirmed that they no longer just are a photo sharing app, that their focus will be on video.
Even if this isn’t a big news itself as we have seen this transition during a long time, but a lot of people didn’t receive this news with a smile on their faces.
Video is huge, we can’t deny that. Even if I’m not a fan of video content myself (both consuming or creating) we know that it won’t disapear. Otherwise platforms like YouTube and TikTok wouldn’t be so popular.
Video is here to stay
But creating a video is hard, it takes time and requires more than just uploading a photo.
Even if it requires more effort creating a video, I do have a feeling that people overthink this a bit and make it a bit harder than it is.
And I understand that and I see where it comes from as there are so many good videos out there, where people are dancing, are funny, looking good and have cut the videos like the pros in Hollywood.
But not everyone likes to dance, not everyone is extrovert or has the time to cut videos for hours…
I don’t say dancing is wrong, but it’s not the dance and the jokes that the algorithm likes, it’s the file format, the video, the mp4, it likes.
Take what you already have!
Are you a photographer, do a Reel with your photos instead of a carousel post…
Do you have a new blog post, do a Reel to promote it…
Are you creating informative carousel posts, do Reels of them…
Almost everything that you already have can be transformed into a Reel.
And your best friend in this process is Canva.
Here below in the video I show you how you can animate your Reels in Canva with only a few clicks. I have been doing this for a while now and it’s so simple and easy. No video editing program is needed or advanced video knowledge. And it gives a very professional result.

If you not are into video at all
Don’t you worry about not growing on instagram just because the algorithm favours videos. Because if you keep posting great content for your current followers and start to interact genuinely with other accounts, you have nothing to worry about.
Being polite and kind to others are two things that are more powerful than the algorithm.
Control what you can and don’t waste energy on things you can’t!
