Do you have an email list? If not, I actually want you to be a bit stressed about it. Or at least squeeze it in quite high on your to do list.
I’m not here to make anyone feel bad about themselves, it’s the right opposite. I want to be here to inspire and help you achieve your dreams. But when it comes to an email list. It should always be your first priority!
I’m sure that you agree with me after reading this post.
Email list building is one of the most important things
Let me tell you something crazy.
I had an email list before I had this website.
Yes, that is correct.
I started my email list 3 months before I launched my website.
The reason is because I know HOW IMPORTANT IT IS!
By experience I know the importance of an email list
Beside this business of mine I have a photography business. When I (finally) started my email list for that business I really understood what everyone was talking about.
I saw the difference.
But I also felt it.
Because via my email list I have learnt my clients the value of my service beyond just a photo. It prepares my customers mentally so that they are more willing to pay for my service, as they then know how much (emotionally) value it actually has for them.
And it’s the same for Designs by Josephine, the only difference is that here I have a more product based business (my photography business is service based) so the contact I have with my customers and clients differs a bit.
But what’s equal for both is that it’s an amazing way of building trust and connections. The two ingredients you need to generate and increase your sales.
An example of why you need an email list
Let me give you an example.
Say hi to Anna and Jessica.
They both sell handmade soaps. Equal product with an equal price.
Now pretend that you are following both of them on Social Media but you are also subscribing to Annas email list.
She regularly sends you emails about how you can increase your self care at home.
One day, both post on instagram that they have a new lavendel soap in stock.
Which one do you purchase from?
I would say, it’s a MUCH bigger chance that you purchase Anna’s soap as you have got a deeper connection with her via her email.
But…
Please also note that Anna also sent you an email about this new lavendel soap.
Cause according to statistics, it’s only 6% of the followers on Instagram that sees the posts that are shared.
Which means that you most likely would have missed both Anna’s and Jessica’s post about the new soap.
So pretend that you didn’t see any of the posts.
Which soap did you purchase?
Probably the one you knew existed right?
Let me scare you a bit
I guess you now see the huge benefit from having an email list!
If you don’t do that yet.
Let me visualize your worst nightmare for you.
What happens if you wake up tomorrow and Instagarm didn’t exist? Like that the platform is gone and so are ALL your followers!
Where should you promote yourself? I mean, the platform is GONE?
– If you have an email list…
You are safe.
– If you don’t have an email list…
Yes, feel free to panic!
Having an email list gives you control. You are not depending on other companies or algorithms in order to succeed.

It’s a 100% true statement! You need an email list and as soon as possible. I recently started mine and it’s so helpful that you can ‘own’ your list of potential and existing clients!
