Custom Website
Your Showit Designer and Friend
Want to attract mamas who value beautiful motherhood portraits? I design brands and websites that tell your story, the way you tell theirs - authentically and thoughtfully.
My years photographing these precious moments showed me exactly what makes families connect with their photographer, and now I help you create that same connection
Your gallery is one of the final parts of the experience your clients have with you. And even though they’re there for the pictures, the way the gallery looks still adds to the impression you leave.
When the fonts, colors, and design match the website, guides, and emails they’ve already seen from you, everything just looks like it belongs together.
With Pic-Time, you can now upload your own fonts, adjust the colors, change the gallery design, and customize how the pictures in your gallery are displayed. And in this post, I’ll show you exactly how to set that up, step by step.

As a Pic-Time Educational Partner, this blog post was created in paid collaboration with Pic-Time.
When I work with photographers on their custom Showit websites, they send me galleries all the time so I can pull the images I need. Everyone uses something different, but Pic-Time has always been my favorite from the receiving side because it’s just so easy to use and navigate.
So when Pic-Time asked me to become one of their Educational Partners, it was an easy yes. I only partner with things I genuinely like and would recommend anyway.
And now that you can bring your own fonts, colors, and more of the look of your website into the gallery too, there’s even more you can do with it. So let’s get into it.
Create a 2.0 gallery and add your pictures as usual. Then click the Design tab in the menu to the left.
It might take a little while for everything to load, but once you’re in, you can select what type of style you want for your gallery. I’ve gone for the default one here.

Click Customize, and then Add custom font set.
In the new window, you can select a primary and secondary font. Start with the primary font. When you open the dropdown, you’ll have the option to Upload my font. Click there and upload the font you use for your headlines.
Then do the same with the secondary font and upload the font you use for your subheadlines.
And you only need to upload your fonts to Pic-Time once. The next time you create a gallery, your custom fonts will already be available at the top of your font list.

Don’t know where your font file is?
If you’re using a custom font on your Showit website, you may already have the font file saved in your Media Library.
Open the font file, click the link icon, and copy the link. Paste that into a new browser window and the font file will download to your computer.
If you can’t find the actual font file there, for example if the font came with a shared Showit design, you’ll need to download it again from wherever you originally purchased or saved it.

.
Now my fonts are added, but they don’t quite look the way I normally use them. Here, for example, there’s too much space between the letters.
To adjust how the fonts look, click Gallery Cover. Open the Text settings and choose Edit manually.
Here you can change the size and adjust the text, but you can also choose which of your two uploaded fonts you want to use for each piece of text.
I recommend you use your font for the headlines, the title of your gallery (here, “Maternity Gallery”), and the font for your subheadlines, your business name, and the date.

If you scroll down a bit, you can see a few different color palettes. Click on the plus to add a custom palette. You can change the colors in the gallery to the ones you’re already using on your website. You can set your background, content, and accent colors by simply adding your color codes.
If you don’t know your color codes off the top of your head, they’re really easy to find in your Showit Design Settings under your brand colors.
Just add the color codes in Pic-Time, and they’ll be saved as your own custom color palette, ready to use again for future galleries without having to add them every time.

After that, we can customize the gallery grid. Select Media Grid, and you’ll see a few different options for how you want the gallery to look.
And I love this part so much, as you can start with one grid type depending on the feeling of your gallery and then use the tool to adjust the spacing, etcetera.
You can also rearrange the pictures by dragging and dropping them directly inside the preview area. I really love how easy it is to do the adjustments and see how the result is at the same time
So if there’s an image you want to give a little more attention to, or the gallery just doesn’t flow quite the way you want it to, you can move things around and see the changes straight away. Such an improvement to the older way of doing it.
And you have a mobile preview too, which I definitely recommend checking because your clients are very likely going to open their gallery on their phone as well.

The experience your clients have with you doesn’t stop when the session is over, or even when you send that “your gallery is ready” email.
Opening their gallery, finding their pictures, downloading them, sharing them, and ordering anything they want from it is still part of it.
And when that gallery uses the same fonts and colors they’ve already seen on your website, in your guides, and throughout the rest of their experience with you, it simply looks more finished. They can see that this belongs to you instead of feeling like they’ve suddenly landed on a random page to collect their pictures.
That’s also one of the reasons I’ve always loved Pic-Time from the receiving side. I open so many client galleries while working on websites, and it’s always easy for me to find what I need without having to figure out where to click or how something works.
So if you’re not using Pic-Time yet and want to try it, you can start with a 30-day free trial through my affiliate link, and if you decide to stay, you’ll also get an extra month free when you sign up.

Yes, you guessed right, this is an affiliate link and I earn a small commission when you use it.
